Commissioned Furniture
The majority of commissioned free-standing furniture designed and produced by Quartet is of a contemporary nature – unique pieces that will hold their own in years to come. We do not produce reproduction furniture. While individually commissioned pieces of furniture are often referred to as ‘the antiques of the future’, in our eyes they are no substitute for the antiques of the past. You cannot capture the character and depth of an antique in a reproduction piece, however good the design and craftsmanship.
Over the years Quartet have been commissioned to design & produce bookcases, coffee tables, desks, dining tables, chests, wardrobes, armoires, hi-fi & TV cabinets, sideboards and alcove cabinets.
The most likely occasion when you need to commission a piece of furniture is when you cannot find what you want ’off the shelf’. It needs to be a special size, or it needs to fit in a particular place within a room scheme, or it has a special purpose such as housing a computer or audio-visual system or a collection of some nature.
We have a wide and varied network of workshops that enables us to produce furniture in many different styles using a diverse portfolio of materials including solid & veneered timbers, metal, stone, glass and laminates.
